Soccer Programs for Every Level of Player

Serving youth soccer in Western New York, NYSWYSA provides a safe environment for soccer, promotes the ’game within the child’, teaches fair-play and good sportsmanship, makes soccer fun to play and trains players to reach their potential in soccer and beyond.

NYSWYSA offers programs with a level of soccer appropriate to all players. The following is a menu of programs and a brief description offered by NYSWYSA. More detail about each can be found by clicking on the program name listed in the right hand sidebar of this page.

Recreational Soccer

Recreational soccer is very active in every district. Each club and league enlists many volunteer parent/coaches, managers and league organizers. Many clubs have developed programs that bring out "The Game within the Child," are safe, fun, age-appropriate, and allow maximum opportunities for soccer. Age-appropriate means downsizing field and goals, playing small-sided games.

The State Recreational Director is very active in each district, providing help where needed and assisting in organizing a number of state and local recreational events.

The NYSW Parent/Coach Youth Module Instructional Program provides a great opportunity for volunteers to learn more about what should be taught to specific ages. The module curriculum is developed by ’National Instructors’ with professional specialties in child development and child psychology.

Travel Soccer

Many teams participate in travel leagues. These ’Classic’ teams also travel to tournaments in other parts of NYSW and neighboring states. Some of the stronger teams participate in ’premier’ leagues. These participants experience a very competitive level of play.

TOPSoccer

TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, age 5-19, who has a mental or physical disability. Our goal is to enable the thousands of young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of the US YOUTH SOCCER family.

Soccer Across America Program

Soccer Across America is designed to introduce the sport of soccer to youngsters living in communities not yet served by existing clubs and leagues. Focused on making soccer available to lower-income children in underserved communities, Soccer Across America provides soccer training and administrative guidance to players and organizations who might otherwise not be exposed to the sport. Soccer Across America also helps new programs find the funding and equipment to begin and then to expand their activities. In the past several years, US Youth Soccer has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial and material support to programs across the United States.
