NYSW Creates Associate Director of Coaching Positions

The New York State West Youth Soccer Association is please to announce the creation of the Associate Director of Coaching position. An Associate Director of Coaching is being sought for each of the six districts within NY West (Binghamton, Buffalo, Rochester, Southern Tier, Syracuse and Twin Tiers). These are part-time, paid positions.

RATIONALE

The board of directors has agreed to adopt a new district coaching initiative as proposed by Director of Coaching Glen Buckley. The program will enhance the availability of the State Association in each of the districts. The intent is to help the member clubs further benefit from the services provided by NY West, and to provide new programming to our members. The individuals selected for these positions will work along side the Director of Coaching with specific attention to their district.

Responsibilities of this position shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Player development
  • Coach and parent education through US Soccer and US Youth Soccer
  • Coach and player workshops/clinics for individual or multiple organizations
  • Development of TOPSoccer opportunities
  • Club development
  • Recreational organization
  • District league support

The State Association is looking for six highly motivated, conscientious individuals with the ability and vision to deliver the above criteria.

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • Must hold a minimum of a USSF National C License (or equivalent European or NSCAA)
  • Must hold (or obtain within 12 months) a USSF National Youth License
  • Must be able to commit at least 30 hours per month
  • Must be familiar with their district
  • Must possess good communication and public speaking skills
  • Must have regular access to e-mail

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF COACHING
JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Director of coaching will be a liaison with the State Director of Coaching and district commissioners. The duties of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Create an awareness within the district about NY West and the services we offer
  • Initiate contacts within the clubs, for the DOC or District commissioner
  • Promote education courses (bring the coaches of multiple clubs together)
  • Promote clinics and workshops for individual clubs
  • Instruct courses, clinics and workshops
  • Be a regular attendee at the district league meetings to promote NYSW
  • Identify potential State staff
  • Identify potential ODP players
  • Write articles for the NY West Network that highlight events within the district
  • Identify clubs that may wish to host/run a TOPSoccer Program
  • Attend NYSW Board Meetings as requested
  • Be committed to further education
  • Identify possible new member organizations/canvass and report to office.
  • Host district coach meetings.
  • Provide a written monthly report to the DOC

GOALS

Each Associate Director of Coaching will be expected to conduct a minimum of the following courses, clinics and workshops each year:

  • Four (4) Youth Modules
  • Three (3) E Certification courses
  • One (1) D License course
  • Four (4) new Intermediate State Certification courses
  • Two (2) coaches workshops
  • Organize a State Day Camp (summer)
  • Organize Center of Excellence (winter)
  • Canvass for a Top Soccer play day
