Kesteven & Grantham Football Club

English football club wants to establish relationship with NYSW clubs

In the tradition of the successful sister cities programs throughout the United States, we have received a letter from an English Girls Football Club wishing to develop a relationship with a club in NYSWYSA.  They have already successfully established a relationship with a Florida club and traveled from England to play in the Florida tournaments.  Any club wishing to pursue such a relationship should contact the Kesteven & Grantham Club directly.  Our State Director of Coaching, Glen Buckly, has reviewed the letter we recieved and verified that this is a legtimate youth club in England.  Below is a copy of the letter we received.

Dear, Secretary
We are a girls football (soccer) club who are looking to create and develop links with team(s) in the New York area. We have created successful links with Pensacola Futball club in Florida, who we visited in April of this year to play in a tournament and a series of friendlies. We took two teams, under 13s and under 14s and stayed at the Hampton Inn hotel, we arranged all our own accommodation for the two weeks we were in Florida.
Whilst we were in Pensacola all of our girls made friends with young American soccer players and they all stayed with families over the Easter weekend. This opportunity gave our players an experience they will never forget it enabled our young players to have a wonderful time both on and off the soccer field and to enjoy family life. Our soccer tour saw us play 7 matches at u14s and 5 matches at u13s in addition to those games we also had a series of coaching session organised by Pensacola Futball club and the University of West Florida. Our players enjoyed their experience of working with different coaches, and were receptive to the different style of coaching that was made available to us. In fact it was a great all-round experience for our players, managers and coaches plus the parents who attended.
I would be grateful if you could pass on our details to clubs in your league regarding our request to make links, even if those early communications between us were just finding out about each other.
If we are successful in establishing links, it can always lead on to what Ive described above.
I believe its a wonderful opportunity for young people to meet and share their enjoyment of playing the game of soccer but its also important to enable young people to meet and make friends with young people from different countries and cultures.
I hope that you may find this request interesting and if you need additional information before you decided to inform your registered clubs, then I will be happy to answer any questions.
I hope to hear from you or any interested clubs in your league in the near future.

Yours Faithfully
John Wills
Youth Development Officer
