Doug May


Doug grew up in King Ferry, Cayuga County, NY and was a standout soccer player at SUNY Brockport from 1967 to 1970.  He earned his BS in physical educaton from Brockport in 1971 and went on to the University of North Carolina where he worked as a graduate assistant with Anson Dorrance and received an MS degree in education.  After coaching and teaching at New Lebanon Valley HS, Wayne Central School, Dean Junior College, and the former Eisenhower College, he served as the head men's coach at RIT from 1980 to 1995.

Doug was selected Empire Athletic Association Coach of the Year 8 times and he was chosen the NCAA Division III Coach of the Year in 1989.  From RIT he moved to Nazareth College where he taught and served as the men's soccer coach from 1996 to 2004.

He was a national NSCAA staff coach and the Rochester District head coach for the NY West Olympic Development Program.  He conducted numerous clinics and camps for local high school and youth players.  Serveral of his former players have gone on to coach in local schools and clubs.

Doug passed away on April 21, 2004 after complications from heart valve surgery.
